THC RICE

Company Background – THC Rice Sdn Bhd

THC Rice Sdn Bhd has its roots in a legacy business known as Thai Hong Chan (K.L.) Sdn Bhd, a company established in 1990 with a focused specialization in the rice industry. Initially founded by a private owner, the business was dedicated to sourcing, distributing, and supplying rice products to various local markets within Malaysia.

Over time, as the original owner decided to divest, the business was acquired by the Ter family, who recognized the company’s potential and the strategic importance of rice as a staple commodity in the Malaysian economy. After the acquisition, the new owners continued to operate under the original name, Thai Hong Chan (K.L.) Sdn Bhd, preserving its reputation and existing relationships in the industry while progressively modernizing its operations.

Recognizing the need to evolve and align the company identity with its broader strategic goals, the management initiated a rebranding exercise. In July 2020, the company officially changed its name to THC Rice Sdn Bhd, with “THC” representing the initials of the original company name, a nod to its heritage and continuity. This change marked the beginning of a new era for the company—an era defined by expansion, diversification, and modernization.

Diversification of Products and Services

While rice remains at the heart of THC Rice’s operations, the company has responded to market demands and changing consumer needs by expanding its product offerings. Today, THC Rice Sdn Bhd is not only a trusted name in the rice sector but also a reliable supplier of other essential food products. These include:

  • Sugar – Refined and coarse sugar for household and commercial use
  • Flour – Various types of flour catering to baking, cooking, and industrial needs
  • Salt – Commonly used food-grade salt
  • And other food staples essential for daily consumption

This diversification allows THC Rice to provide a one-stop solution for retailers, food manufacturers, and hospitality businesses seeking dependable sources of essential food items.

Market Expansion and Reach

THC Rice has steadily expanded its market presence beyond small retailers. The company now serves a wide spectrum of customers, including independent grocery stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and wholesalers, primarily throughout the Klang Valley and Selangor region. Its agile distribution network and strategic partnerships have enabled it to meet the growing demands of both urban and suburban markets, ensuring that essential food products are delivered timely and efficiently.
